There are several ways to represent the Tree (of Life). Even the Menorah can represent the Tree. Once you understand the meanings of the sephorha, you can use the Tree to classify and work through many of life's systems. See: Book Review of the Tree of Life: An Introduction to the Kabbalah by Z'ev ben Shiomon Halevi.
It's all symbols beyond Tepheret (you'll notice that spellings vary).
There is less and less ego (separate self) as one goes to the top of the Tree. The ego can not pass the last abyss (gap, Dath).
