The Star of Solomon

Is a very common symbol in both the Greater and Lesser Books of Solomon.

It is usually confused with, or used interchangeably with, the Star of David. The Star of David is a hexagram and the Star of Solomon is a pentagram.

It usually represents protection, i.e. with badges. The Pentagram, now wrongly associated with black magick, it is really a white magick symbol with a great deal of history. It probably relates with Gebaurah on the Tree.

The Pentacle is a marshal symbol associated with Mars and is mentioned in such songs as "Green Grow the Rushes" (five for the symbols at your door) which was so popular at one time that this is what the Mexican's still call us, "Gringos".

Also, similar to the elder sign.
