Hypothesized a primordial cosmic energy or vital force in The Discovery of the Orgone: The Function of the Orgasm; Sex-Economic Problems of Biological Energy and The Cancer Biopathy.
He was jailed by the Food and Drug Administration for ignoring its rulings to not use his "orgone accumulator" device and the term "orgone." When he died in jail, his orgone accumulators and books were destroyed.
His device was modified by Preston Nichols, author of The Montack Series. Nichols called his device a Protectasonde.
