Even today in Africa, hyenas are a symbol for death and chaos and used as/in magick.
Peter Capstick shot two hyenas that had been killing people. He was told by a magick woman that he owed her compensation for the loss of her assistants. The hyenas had beads woven into their hair, a sign of devotion to these animals which he had encountered other times.
