Diving has been used since primitive times and in sophisticated ways by priesthoods to discover hidden truths.
Divining for water kept people alive and still does in the outback of Australia. Almost everyone has heard of a water diviner or "water witch" or seen ads for special divining rods to find old pipes (many city water departments send out someone to divine the location of pipe systems).
Divining can also be used as a spiritual tool. The Language of Light (Cliff Stambough) is the speech of angels and the single most important key to understanding.
One can divine all sorts of things, like family and personal "rays" (See Alice Bailey's books necessary to determine what initiations a person needs and what stage they're at).
