How to be a Real Pacifist

If you say you are a pacifist, but do not know how to fight or are unable to fight, you are lying.  It is not a choice if you are simply untrained, defenseless or weak. You can only make the philosophical stance of pacifism if you are able to defend yourself.

Good Examples

One of Harold's well-trained martial arts friends showed extreme self-control when being bullied on the bus. When he said, "Look, I'm a pacifist, alright!?" it meant something. The others understood and backed down.

A policeman Harold knew used to carry a $20 bill around. It was right at the top of his pocket or wallet even thought he was armed (legally as a cop) and deadly in a fight even unarmed (he once disarmed and defeated a gang of 6 messing with his car). He was always ready for a punk to say, "Your wallet and your watch." When that happened, he'd pull out the $20 and drop it and, if they didn't just snatch the bill and run, he'd say, "Is that enough, or do you want to dance?"

Terrorists Hit the Disarmed and the Defenseless

BUT, it's hard to do that with the terrorists -- they are certain that everyone on the plane had been disarmed except them (what a swell thing (disarming) to do the citizens -- it's like the robbers who hit an anti-gun rally).

We do not need healing as much as to realize that most people in this country are defenseless! Most people who demonstrate for peace are afraid and don't understand that only the strong can have peace.

A quote from Gandhi, "The worst thing that the British ever did to us was to take away our guns." Don't believe that Gandhi said this? Well believe it because he had set up a practice in Africa after he emigrated from India and knew how dangerous those rare endangered beasts could be in India and Africa. When you consider that a single leopard killed 500 people in India and a single tiger closer to 600, you get some idea of why the peaceful Gandhi was against the removal of firearms from his countrymen. Ohio used to be crawling, with panthers, cougars, bears (even grizzlies at one time) and guess what? We didn't hesitate to exterminate everything with "teeth" in this country. Some parallels can be drawn between wild man-eating animals and terrorists. The hit the unprepared.

Personal Danger and EXTREME Discretion

This will likely be the biggest challenge America has ever faced, because terrorists, who are Islamic Fundamentalist, look just like all the other "brown" people with curly black hair. So it's handling personal danger with EXTREME discretion. Retaliating against the wrong person is becoming a terrorist yourself.

The framers of the constitution and our forefathers intended that every man be armed. Some people say there's no longer a need for that. It may be that in densely populated cities like New York, bearing arms should be restricted, but Harold doesn't think so.

Laws against handguns discriminate against:

and favor those like Senator Kennedy who can afford bodyguards with submachine guns.

It's become a personal issue now. Don't let your second amendment rights slip away simply because you don't use them or you may find yourself standing at the back of the line while those in front of you are having their jugular sliced with a box cutter. Thank you.

Illusion of Safety

What we're dealing with here, is a liberal definition of the illusion of safety (no guns + no knives = nobody gets hurt). Silly!

While we're getting down to removing tweezers from airline passengers:

I'm not going into more detail, because I don't want to give people more ideas, but the main point here is:

Popular Ignorance

Learn as much as you can about the things that frighten you! Survival involves getting that knowledge and preparing to use it.

The American population in general could use more weapon information and gun safety education. In Afghanistan they put an unloaded pistol  into the cradle with their children. We, of course, know to treat and respect every firearm as if it were loaded!

Handguns are defensive tools. Rifles are offensive -attack weapons.

For the most part, journalists know so little about guns that they call revolvers automatics and talk about putting safeties on revolvers.

Journalists know so little about knives that in a national magazine they recently:

Living in denial is asking to be a victim.
